Wow 2019 already and I just realized I need to make a new start on my blog.
A lot has happened in the last two years that impacted our lives, some good and some bad.
In March 2017 Budd was coming in from running his route he was a courier for a company and drove about 360 miles a night. We were living in St. Louis at the time, it was cold and snowing a little at about 2 a.m. when he got into town. Long story short he was t boned by a drunk driver who run a red light. I got the call to come pick him and the parcels he had picked up to be returned to the customers up. We took everything back to the warehouse and he decided he was okay so we went home.
The next morning I took him to a local hospital who supposedly checked him out but didn't do a very good job of it. Sent him home and said if you get worse come back and yes he was checked by emt's at the site of the accident. Later that day I heard a noise and him calling my name-I went to check on him and found him laying in the floor. I got him up and in a chair and he passed out again so I put him on the couch and called 911, the first responders were ther within 5 minutes and called the ambulance. Luckily the emt's were the same ones who responded to the accident and remembered him, he was transported to SLU hospital where they are a level one trauma unit. He had a lacerated spleen and when he fell he caused a hematoma on the brain.
They took him to surgery but they lost him twice and were unable to close the incision for a couple of days. When they went into close it they found a few problems that required more attention, one of which was a quadruple by pass surgery and copd plus an abdominal aneurism.
Life changed after that, retirement came quicker than we were planning. He is doing pretty good now they keep a close eye on his heart and the aneurism and he is on medicine for the copd.
We moved out of the city and to a small town and now live on our social security such as it is.
We had made some bad decisions and some good decisions but it is what it is.
The really sad part is the drunk 21 year old walked away without a scratch but changed our lives forever.
Not a rant nor a rave just a fact of life, you never know what tomorrow may bring as some call it it was a LCE(life changing event).
God Bless and have a good day
